The sandstone hut is pretty much the same thing as the wood hut but it's non-flammable. It's worth the time since sandstone is easy to achieve, although if there is a decent amount of stone nearby it would be better to build with stone (Due to the lengthy amount of time required to forage sand). The sandstone hut will do good if you want a base that wont be destroyed by raiders.
